General qualifications for appointment to Jail Officer 1
No person shall be appointed as uniformed personnel of the BJMP unless he/she possesses the following minimum qualifications:
- A Citizen of the Republic of the Philippines
- A Person of good moral character
- Must have passed the neuro-psychiatric evaluation, medical examination and drug test for the purpose of determining his/her physical and mental health
- Must possess a baccalaureate degree from a recognized institution of learning
- Must possess the appropriate civil service eligibility
- Must not have been dishonorably discharged of dismissal for cause from previous employment
- Must not have been convicted by final judgement of an offense or crime involving moral turpitude
- Must not be less than twenty-one (21) nor more than thirty (30) years of age
- Must be at least 5' 4" or one meter and sixty-two centimeters (1.62m) in height for male, and 5' 2" or one meter and fifty-seven centimeters (1.57m) for female: provided that a waiver for height requirement shall be granted to applicants belonging to the cultural communities
- Must weigh not more or less than five kilograms (5kgs) from the standard weight corresponding to his/her height, age and sex.

Applicants must submit the following documentary requirements placed in a folder properly TABBED and LABELLED:
A. Application letter addressed to the Regional Director
- With recent passport size picture, colored
- With recent Tax Certificate or Cedula
- With attached Work Experience Sheet with Certificate/s of Previous/Present Employment
- Character References
C. Transcript of Records (TOR) with SO or CAV (Certification, Authentication, Verification) from CHED
D. Copy of College Diploma
E. Original copy of Birth Certificate NSO (now called Philippine Statistics Authority PSA)
F. Original Copy of Certificate of Eligibility (Civil Service Professional, RA1080, Penology Officer or PD907)
Note: if PRC passer, attach certified copy of PRC ID)
G. Original copy of clearances:
- Barangay
- NBI
- Police
- Fiscal
- MTC
- RTC
H. Marriage Certificate NSO (if married) (now called Philippine Statistics Authority PSA)
I. Sketch Map of Residency
J. 1 5R size whole body picture
K. NCIP/NCMF Certificate (if necessary)

Salary
Jail Officer 1 will receive a basic monthly salary of P29,668 upon oathtaking. A gross monthly salary of P37,488 will be received including the monthly salary and allowances.
Entry Level Examination
Criminologist applicants are exempted to take the EnLEx. (Pursuant to Section 34 and 35, Article V of RA 11131 re: Privileges of Registered Criminologists.)
